St. George’s, Grenada, August 25, 2008: A total of 3,327 candidates were registered to write CXC (CSEC examinations in May/June 2008. 1,899 were students attending schools and 1,428 were private candidates. There were 11,543 subject entries. Overall there were 907 Grade one, 2,463 Grade two, 3,817 Grade three, 2,363 Grade four, 1,358 Grade five, 59 Grade six and 573 ungraded or absent.

Wednesday January 2, 2008, St. George’s: The Government of Grenada has met its commitments to pay allowances owed to Police Officers. The Ministry of Finance today confirmed that Government had paid one million 112 thousand dollars to police officers in back pay owed for 2006. Under an agreement which was negotiated and signed with the Police Union, Government had agreed to pay this back pay by the end of 2007. The salaries of Police Officers were also adjusted in November 2007 to reflect the negotiated and agreed salary increases.
