Ministry Of Education To Address Concerns Over The Type Of Foods Available On School Compounds

The Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Grenada Food and Nutrition Council and the Ministry of Health has organized a series of meetings with stakeholders to address its concerns with the type of food (eats and drinks) that are available on the compound of each school.

Since research shows that the development of many chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and cancer begins in childhood, it is extremely important that children/students develop healthy eating habits during their formative years.

The chief facilitator for these meetings will be Dr. Mary Murimi from the Louisiana State University. Dr. Murime has been involved in Nutrition programmes for schools for many years.

The schedule of meetings is as follows:-
