Tuesday August 5th 2008, St.George’s; The first phase of the Ministry of Education’s Book Distribution Programme officially commenced on Friday August 1st when the first shipment of school books were sent to the sister isles Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
This is the first step toward the Government of Grenada’s initiative to provide all students (Pre- Primary, Primary and Secondary) with their required textbooks.
Come September 1st all students of pre- primary and primary schools would have received all their books. However, due to time limitations the programme will not be fully implemented at the Secondary school level. Secondary School students will receive the four core textbooks which include Mathematics, English Language, General Science and Information and Communication Technology.
Come September 2009, students of all schools throughout Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique will receive all textbooks under the Government’s Text Book Distribution Programme.
Principals of all schools will be responsible for the administration of the programme. Students accompanied by their parents will be advised of the dates in which they can collect their books at the respective schools.
