Ministry Of Education To Launch Television Series “Character Counts”

In an effort to help children make good choices to achieve academic success; social tolerance and acceptance; high ethical standards and greater self-esteem, the Ministry of Education is undertaking a project entitled: CHARACTER COUNTS.

Character Counts will be television series that will assist students in reaching their academic and human potential, while showing them their character really does count.

The Ministry of Education has extended an invitation to all Primary and Secondary Schools to support this initiative. Schools are being asked to prepare and submit by March 30, 2007 scripts of fifteen minute duration that focuses on the following areas:

  • Trustworthiness
  • Respect
  • Responsibility
  • Fairness
  • Caring
  • Citizenship

The following are some guidelines that can be used to assist in the preparation of scripts:-

  • Use Standard English (IAE)
  • Address current situations and social issues
  • Have  students participate in the development of the scripts
  • Target adolescents and young adults.
