Post of Guidance and Counselling Assistants
Tuesday 22nd January, 2008- St. George’s: The Ministry of Education invites applications from teachers to fill the post of Guidance and Counselling Assistants, within the Student Support Services Unit at the following Secondary Schools:
• Boca Secondary
• Wesley College
• Happy Hill Secondary
• St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary
Applicants should possess the following:
• Have a professional certificate in teaching
• Have at least (5) years of teaching experience with at least one (1) year post-teacher experience.
• Have training in counselling skills, post-teacher training experience, knowledge of counselling theory, knowledge in the areas of adolescent or childhood growth and development, educational and career planning, communications, consultation, referral, crisis intervention and group process.
In addition, they should also possess the following personal skills:
• Be able to form positive relationships with students, staff, parents and other members of the community.
• Demonstrate personal qualities of understanding others, trust, empathy, maturity, conscientiousness, integrity and initiative.
• Possess effective organizational and management skills.
• Possess effective communication skills.
• Possess leadership skills
Applications, along with Curriculum Vitae and names of two (2) referees, should be submitted to the Chief Education Officer, Ministry of Education, Botanical Gardens, Tanteen, St. George’s.
