The collaborative effort began on September15th, 2006 and will see the complete rehabilitation of the toilet facility; repair of the roof over the pan house, stage and meeting area; painting of the community center; the construction of a concrete deck for the placement of the water tank, and treatment of the facility for termite infestation.
The Community Center presently houses the St. Paul ’s Government School which was severely damaged by Hurricane Ivan. Funds for the rebuilding of the School have already been identified through financing from the World Bank and the European Union.
The estimated cost for rehabilitation of the St. Paul ’s Government school is approximately Two million, Six hundred thousand EC. dollars. The Contract for the rebuilding has already been forwarded to the World Bank for approval.
To ease the present cramped circumstance for teachers and students at the Community Center, the Ministry of Education has begun the construction of two temporary classrooms and a staff room which is scheduled to be completed on September 29th.
Commendation must be given to the parents, teachers, and students of the St. Paul ’s Government School , and the management and staff of the Community Center for their continued support, understanding and cooperation.
