APPEAL FOR CONTRIBUTION TO HAITIAN RELIEF EFFORTS
St. George's, Grenada Sunday January 17th 2010 - A final appeal is going out to Grenadians to make contributions to Haitian Relief efforts. The ministry of Education and Human Resource Development is urging schools across the island to pick up contributions from students toward the fund.
Permanent Secretary at the ministry Mrs. Elizabeth Henry-Greenidge is urging parents to give their children at least one dollar to donate by midday Monday January 18th 2010.
The poverty-stricken Caribbean island bore the brunt of a 7.0 earthquake Tuesday which left Haitians displaced and in need of urgent assistance. Hundreds are believed to have died and many more injured, with survivors in urgent need of water, medicine and other supplies.
